How players give express written consent to receive PlanMyPickle text messages. Last updated September 2026.
Express opt-in only. PlanMyPickle never sends texts unless a person actively checks an SMS consent box that is unchecked by default. Consent is not a condition of creating an account, registering for an event, or using the service. No mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
When creating an account, the user sees an SMS consent checkbox, unchecked by default, next to the phone field.
2. Event Registration form
When registering for a tournament, the user sees the same SMS consent checkbox, unchecked by default. The phone number is only stored — and texts are only sent — if the box is checked.
The exact consent language (the checkbox label)
“By checking this box, I agree to receive recurring automated text messages from PlanMyPickle (match alerts, court assignments, score confirmations, and event reminders) at the phone number above. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe, HELP for help.”
Tournament alerts (marketing texts) — a second, separate box
Below the match-alerts box, both forms show a second checkbox, also unchecked by default. Ticking the first box does not tick the second. Only people who tick this one receive promotional texts, which PlanMyPickle sends on behalf of tournament and league organizers.
“Text me about tournaments and leagues near me from PlanMyPickle, up to 4 messages a month. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to end, HELP for help.”
On opt-in we send one confirmation: “PlanMyPickle: You're in for local tournament and league alerts, up to 4/mo. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to end, HELP for help.”
We keep the time of the tick, the exact wording shown, and the network address it came from as proof of consent.
Frequency: up to 4 a month, sent 9 AM–8 PM Pacific, and only about events in counties where the person actually plays.
Opt out any time by replying STOP or switching off “Tournament texts” in the app.
What we send
With the first box: transactional event alerts — match alerts, court assignments, score-confirmation requests, and event reminders for tournaments you organize or have registered for. Message frequency varies (typically only on event days).
With the second box: tournament and league announcements near you, up to 4 a month.
Message and data rates may apply.
